Dress Code

Tops

Solid Color “Polo-style”, t-shirt, or button down oxford long or short sleeve shirt --> Any solid color shirt is permitted
Can be short or long-sleeved
Emblems can be no larger than an inch (ie. any symbol bigger than a “quarter” is too big)
Any shirt with the schools’ logos, insignias, sports team, or club can be worn any time and
All other Dublin City School spirit shirts can be worn on Fridays.
Shirts may be draped below the waistline, but shirts cannot be oversized.
Blouses/tops which are not appropriate for school include those which are low cut (showing cleavage), see-through, backless, tube tops, tops that expose shoulders, etc.
- Halter tops, tank tops, strapless tops, spaghetti straps, or tops of any type that expose the bra will NOT be allowed.
- Sleeveless tops are allowed.
- The midriff must NOT be exposed when a student goes through the normal activities of a school day...bending, stretching, reaching, etc.
Shirts must be tucked in for boys and girls.
Absolutely NO:
- Sheer
- Lace
- See-thru

Uniform-Style
- Colors are khaki, brown, black, blue or grey.
- Cargos are allowed but they must be the same as the colors above.
Joggers ARE allowed but MUST be the uniform-style pant and cannot be sweat pant type material. NO SAGGING!
Jeans must not have any rips, holes, tears, or frays. NO SAGGING!
Wearing pants below the buttocks to expose the underwear is a violation of Dublin City ordinance, and violators may be issued a ticket and fined by the police.
Leggings CANNOT be worn as “stand alone” attire. They can be worn under skirts/shorts and must be a solid color.
Shorts made of mesh, nylon, athletic shorts, and/or basketball shorts are not permitted except during PE classes.
Skirts must be no shorter than fingertips when arms are extended.

Clothing and socks shall be free from inflammatory, suggestive, racial, or other inappropriate writing, advertisements, or artwork. This also includes offensive words and designs, violence, blood, death, weapons, sex, hate groups, tobacco, or vaping products, drugs, alcohol, or gang membership.
Students will be allowed to wear sweatshirts or jackets with hoods.
- The wearing of hoods and/or hoodies while in the building is strictly prohibited. After the third infraction individual violators will NOT be allowed to wear articles of clothing with hoods attached. Once the student is in compliance he/she will be permitted into school.
Solid Color sweaters, sweatshirts, and cardigans may be worn.
- These must be over a uniform shirt.
- Solid color turtlenecks can be worn.
No restrictions on jacket colors.
- No inappropriate slogans or inappropriate messages.
- No Trench Coats or dusters.
Belts must be leather or cloth.
No oversized or ornate accessories of any kind.
Jewelry may not be worn that pierces the lips, tongue, eyebrows, or other parts of the face. Students may; however, wear one small nose stud.
Head gear including hats, caps, hoods, sweat bands, scarves, bandanas, doo rags, head wraps, sunglasses, picks, curlers, and bonnets are not allowed.
Masks are encouraged.

Absolutely NO:

The Following Items are Also Prohibited:

Excessively tight or oversized clothing
Outer clothing which resembles loungewear, pajamas, or underwear.
Fads and styles which differ extremely from conventionally accepted standards, such as pants with slogans or writing across the buttocks.
All ripped or torn clothing must have leggings or other attire underneath such that skin is not showing.
Any clothing that is distracting because of extreme in style, fit, color, pattern, fabric, etc.
Exposed tattoos that include profanity, nudity, alcohol, drugs, discriminatory, racist, or gang-related symbols.

The principal shall have the authority to make case by case determinations for the appropriateness of dress which is not covered in this policy.
